Adam Morrison Nominated to ASTM Board of Directors, LSA MOSAIC Standards Coming Soon!

Like most days for the past several months, today Adam is working with several ASTM committee task groups, helping move our Unmanned Systems and Light Sport Aircraft MOSAIC standards forward as the committee drafts, edits, and ballots a full, new suite of standards in time for our July 2026 effectivity date! They have some aggressive deadlines to meet in order to support industry movement toward MOSAIC LSA and all of the benefits that this rule change brings. Standards we are working on this week include Structures, Occupant Safety, Powerplant and Propulsion, and Landing Gear. Simultaneous to the writing of this post, Adam is talking with the FAA about 8130 forms.

Whether he is developing new training materials for the ASTM LSA class, advocating for an appropriately placed comma, or casting vision for an aviation and autonomy framework at a conference, I hope you have had the pleasure of seeing how his skill for herding political and technical cats (without quenching their spirits) has benefited emergent aviation for over 20 years. Many of you have also seen this play out as Adam has led and participated on every aviation committee ASTM has offered. And the whole team at Streamline Designs has greatly enjoyed meeting and helping you get your products and services to market as we provide strategic consultation for LSA compliance.

So it is with great pleasure that I get to share Adam’s nomination to the ASTM Board of Directors after decades of selfless leadership in the aviation and aerospace committees.

Did we know how these leadership positions would shape our company? Family? The industry? No, not really. I think we just kept doing the next best thing for the good of all through it all. Thank you, clients (especially those of you who pay your bills on time!) who support Adam’s work in ASTM which has benefitted us all. Thank you, those of you who remind him to eat when he is on the road and giving talks. Thank you, those who have listened and paid attention to the ways Adam just sees things really differently. Who knows what his leadership will bring to ASTM International? I’m looking forward to seeing Adam’s vision and leadership grow and evolve through this new opportunity.
